"...Fear not; I am the first and the last:  I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." (Rev. 1:17-18)

January/April 2008

Dear Praying Friends,

Greetings from Haiti in the name of our risen Savior "Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." (Rom. 4:25) Christ's resurrection is the guarantee of our own.

As many of you have been asked to pray for my mother who was very sick and some of you have been reached by e-mail of her death and just for those who have not been reached, she passed away on December 24 and was buried on January 3rd.  She lived to be 92 years, 4 months and 9 days old.  She did suffer for about 3 months.  I was privileged to preach her funeral.  She was a prayer warrior and I'm glad that she's with the Lord which is far better.

Haiti & Ministry News

As you watch the news, the whole world is in a mess.  No wonder it is so bad in Haiti where inflation is very rampant, people can barely eat and we are not far from a social explosion if something is not done quickly.  Already, we begin to see in some of the major cities street demonstrations for the situation is truly unbearable.  The people give a name to hunger, they call it "clorox or battery acid".  You think that you are paying too much for a gallon of gas in America, where the price is around $3-4 for a gallon but in Haiti it is close to $6.00 a gallon.  Some immature Christians do get discouraged but the mature ones stand strong in the faith.

We had several seminars for different branches of our church.  We had one for the singing groups of the churches.  On thing about the Haitian Christians, they love to sing.  We held a soul-winning seminar where 60 people attended and were equipped to do personal evangelism.

On March 2nd, a young woman from the church in Cap-Haitien was kidnapped.  The kidnappers were after a large sum of money, she could have been killed, raped or tortured but God protected her and the best we could do was to pray and God did answer our prayers.  On March 8th she was released without having to pay a penny.  Praise the Lord!

Christmas in February

Most of the kids in Haiti do not know what a Christmas present is because they never receive one.  A container filled with Christmas presents was donated to Missionary flights International.  They had the container shipped from Indiana to Haiti and our students from the two schools were among the ones who received a Christmas present.  Every single student was able to get a bag filled with all kind of goodies.  They were so happy that day that we had to dismiss them early.  Thanks to Missionary Flights and to all who were involved in the project.

School News

With the help of some churches who give extra, we have been able to pay the teachers for December through February.  We are still trusting the Lord for March to June.  Also, we are still debating about what to do for the coming academic year.  Thank you to all the churches who helped.
